Why do they wear the armor that is the same as what type of Ele they are? Wouldn't it make more sense to wear the armor that gives you that bonus defense versus the most common elemental damage in the area you are fighting?

For example, I am in the Shiverpeaks right now. I figure, with the Ice Golems and all those other stupid frosty things, I should be wearing Hydromancer armor. Which I am. But now people think I'm a Water Magic Elemenalist...

I'll probably switch to Pyromancer when I hit the Ring Of Fire. I can't find any reason to ever wear Aeromancer or Geomancer armor...so...just wondering what everyone else thinks?

Is it worth changing armor so often to get that added bonus versus creatures in the area?

Frankly no. Pve is too easy for that.

My ele had 5 al armor all the way to draknors which meant I died in a few hits to anything (didn't die that often though). Stay in the back, out of harm, where eles belong, and let warriors and rangers take the hits.

People use the armor for looks or bonus.

Its not as complex as warriors armor that if they are W/E,Me,Mo they have to get a gladiator set due to not having much energy.

It's true. PVE is too easy at times to even consider getting a complete set of all the different armor sets. But PVP is a different matter. you asked if there was even a reason to wear aeromancers armor? well here it is. in pvp, an ele is most likely going to get hit by a warrior damage, or another ele. Since the most common ele in pvp is air spikers, it's best to wear aeromancer armor in pvp over the other sets.
